BECOMING AND BELONGING: EXPLORING IDENTITY AND CULTURE AT HOME AND ABROAD
ACTIVITIES
During my time at NC State I participated in co-curricular and service activities that added to my international experience while on campus
Cultural Exchange Network was one of the most important organizations I was a part of during my four years at NC State. I joined my first semester freshman year, sophomore year I joined the leadership council, and by senior year I was the president! I have participated and organized countless CENet activities and watched the organization transform over the past four years. I was able to meet many other students from all over the world and facilitate cross-cultural workshops. I learned so much about culture and cultural interactions during my four years of CENet. I improved my cross-cultural competency, my organizational and leadership skills, as well as communication and public speaking. Working with CENet encouraged me to reflect on my own background, culture, and understanding of my own identity and cultural experiences.

Shack-A-Thon was a great volunteer experience that allowed me to apply many of my skills from CENet. It took a lot of hard work and organization. Fundraising was very difficult and there was a lot of logistical planning that went into rallying volunteers, building the shack, and breaking it down. In the end it all came together and our internationally themed shack was successful!

PAA was a great way for me to continue to my study abroad experience after I came back to NC State's campus. I was able to share a little bit about my own experience with other students from all kinds of academic backgrounds while improving upon my presenting skills.
